The Award Scheme continues to flourish at Combe Bank School and is universally recognised and widely adopted as the best programme for the personal development of young people.
At Combe Bank School we aim to integrate the Award Scheme into school to give a sense of purpose, focus and achievement in the non-academic studies. The Award Scheme is co-ordinated by Mrs Baker.
Besides the popular expedition section of the Award girls have undertaken a wide selection of activities for the Service, Skills and Physical Recreation Sections. These include working in charity shops, helping at Cubs and Sunday School, bell ringing, photography, cello, computer skills, war games, tennis and tap dancing.
The expeditions develop self reliance, team work, a sense of adventure and friendship. The final expedition is preceded by a training weekend and practice expedition where they perfect pitching tents, cooking with trangian, map reading and reading compasses.
