We offer a wide variety of courses in the Sixth Form which are tailored to the individuals needs, requirements and abilities. Our students may sit up to 5 AS examinations and 4 A levels or any other variety of combinations, including vocational A levels in Health and Social Care. Most students drop a subject after one year, thereby gaining an AS qualification, and continue with the remaining to full A level standard.
There are examinations in the summer of both Year 12 and Year 13 and some subjects will also offer module examinations in January. In some subjects there is an internal assessment (coursework) component .
As competition for places at the top universities intensifies, the marks achieved in individual modules will become increasingly important. It is therefore wise for students to treat each module examination very seriously.
We offer a full range of A Level courses, some 20 in total. The more unusual courses on offer include History of Art, Drama, Food and Nutrition, Information Technology, Psychology and Textiles.
At Combe Bank we look at the individual and, whilst most students enter the Sixth Form with a minimum of 6 GCSEs at and above grade C with higher grades in their A level chosen subjects, we do consider the merits and circumstances of each student.
